MobAI® Definition

MobAI® is any group work following the Mob format as defined by Woody Zuill, where the team is actively assisted by AI tools. MobAI combines classic mobbing — everyone working on the same thing at the same time — with the explicit use of AI to improve speed, learning, and shared understanding. AI-assisted mob work has existed since early autocomplete tools began supporting group tasks in the 2000s.

The purpose of MobAI is to:

  1. use AI to increase efficiency in all work,
  2. grow company-specific AI using the team’s own knowledge, and
  3. ensure this AI remains owned by the company.

The term MobAI, and #MobAI, was introduced by Joe Justice on May 15, 2023 during an expert-level online course, #JoeDX.
